2008 Rodeo Chili Cook off winners are here!

5:30 - 7:30pm Chili Cook off - Main Street will be closed to automobile traffic at noon on Monday to allow the chili cooks and exhibitors to set up their equipment. The event stretches from 9th Street to 12th Street. Downtown merchants will hold special sales.

The event includes live music.

The People's Choice Award and Perpetual Trophies again will be awarded. Special thanks go to the Humboldt/Del Norte Cattlemen's Association for donating $250 worth of beef to the cookoff contestants. This event is sponsored by the Fortuna Chamber of Commerce.

Chili Cook off Trophy Categories:

Rookie of the Year - Awarded to judge's choice for best new team.
Cattlemen's/Cattlewomen's Best Beef Chili - Awarded by the sponsors for best chili made with beef.
Best Presentation - For the best looking judged chili.
Hottest Chili - A panel of judges will select a winner for perpetual trophy for the hottest chili.
People's Choice - Vote for your favorite recipe or cook with a 25¢ ticket. Vote as many times as you wish. The winner of this category receives the trophy for the year.
World's Best Chili - A select panel of judges will determine the Best Chili in Fortuna. It doesn't matter if it contains beans, chili will be judged on taste, flavor and overall quality. The winner will have the privilege of presenting the award next year.
